grand jury fugitive
excuse me, are you using that secret hideaway?

The quote of the day:
[European pundits] have found evidence in the Starr report, as they do so often elsewhere, of American naivete.

Running news:
None today. Two days off! I'll never get back into it.

Not much happened yesterday: Carole sacked out all afternoon, I played Civilization II--Must. Stop. Playing. Civilization.--and Darin played Starcraft with the Boys. Then Carole and I drove over to get Darin, Harry, and Mike and get dinner at Gourmet 88 in Burbank. I then dropped Darin off with Harry and Mike and said I'd come back to get him later when I was going to the airport. Darin had no problem with this.

Right now, Darin and I have only one car--mine--because his is in the shop, finally taking care of the damage from the accident in August. For two people who don't even commute, having one car is kind of a pain in the butt. We have to coordinate our day.

Darin's Dad came in to LA really late last night, and he actually got off the plane even later: his plane sat on the tarmac waiting for a gate for half an hour. We got home around 1 and didn't get to sleep until 2.

I did not get up this morning to go running.

I did, however, wake up this morning and remember that I had a grand jury summons for today. (That's "to serve on the jury," not "to appear before the jury and give secret testimony that cannot be revealed at the whim of the prosecutor.") Of course, I was due at the courthouse at 8:15 and I'd woken up at 9. I called the 800 number to postpone my appearance. You can postpone your appearance on the day you're supposed to appear; this is a pretty laid-back jury selection process.

Steve cooked breakfast this morning and then Darin and I drove Steve and Carole back out to the airport. Well, I drove, Darin rode shotgun.

Darin went back to work once we got home. I just feel sick and am going to go lie down. Ick.
