Today I started looking at my web page. No, no, not just The Paperwork -- my main web page.
Turns out I haven't updated this puppy in a year.
Where to start? I have to redesign my personal web pages. I have to update my personal pages. Most of the pages don't even mention Los Angeles, that's how old these pages are. I want them to be fresh! I want them to be au courant. I want them to have a last-updated date that ends in 1997.
The other thing I did today was go through The Paperwork and find most of the books I've mentioned, so that I can update my books page. I've also become a Amazon.com associate...so if you follow a link from a book I've recommended on my page to Amazon and then actually buy the book, I get a credit for the sale. I will gladly take the credits towards buying more books at Amazon, of course.
Which means I have to completely revamp both my books page and The Paperwork, to get all those gimme-gimme-gimme credit links in. Heh.
Stay Tuned.
I made an appointment yesterday for a sprinkler guy to come fix the sprinkler. He called me back to reconfirm:
SPRINKLER GUY
I said between 9:30 and 10:00, right?
DIANE
Yup.
He showed up at 8:45. I had just woken up.
Diane opens the front door.
SPRINKLER GUY
I guess I'm early.
DIANE
Yup.
He and his helper immediately set to work on fixing the pipe. I was right; there was a hacksaw involved. They had to remove a pipe and an elbow joint and reattach a new one using quick-dry cement. For this, $50. But it was better than having me dig up the pipes, hack the pipes apart, and reattach new ones, when I didn't know what I was doing.
The sprinkler guy also showed me how to use the timing device. It is not, as we say, user-friendly. He recommended a couple of new ones I could get that are user-friendly, but those can wait until my garden comes back to life anyhow.
