You know, I’ve never liked the taste of domestic Dasani. I assume they probably use the same formula as the British version, which means I’ll really never drink it again:
First, Coca-Cola’s new brand of “pure” bottled water, Dasani, was revealed earlier this month to be tap water taken from the mains. Then it emerged that what the firm described as its “highly sophisticated purification process”, based on Nasa spacecraft technology, was in fact reverse osmosis used in many modest domestic water purification units.
Yesterday, just when executives in charge of a 7m marketing push for the product must have felt it could get no worse, it did precisely that.
The entire UK supply of Dasani was pulled off the shelves because it has been contaminated with bromate, a cancer-causing chemical.
Oh good—a crap product that’s dangerous for you too!
I actually prefer drinking water to most other beverages. My Brita pitcher is in constant use. I also drink a great deal of Arrowhead (because I buy it by the case of bottles with the sport-tops, which I keep in the car) and Crystal Geyser. I don’t much care for Evian (or, as my sister put it: “We drink domestic! None of that imported stuff!”).

I’ve heard, for what it’s worth, that Dasani in France is spring water.
Anyway, I must refer you to the Onion:

In Canada, we’ve known for years that Dasani is just Calgary tapwater. I don’t know why I can’t find any Google evidence, though. This is a recent article.

It’s weird how many supposedly ‘top-notch’ bottled waters are just plain yucky. Evian, not taking into account that it’s name is the reverse of the word Naive, reminds me of that lovely aftertaste you get when you fall off skis and swallow a gallon of lake water. Yum.
no thank you says
Just incase anyone really cares. I work for a company that makes reverse osmosis systmes. And the expensive spring and mineral water is made up. Esentially they take spring water and get a chemical analisys done on it, then they clean the water to pure form(no minerals or microbes or anything) then they inject the proper amout of minerals back into the water. This is done to make it taste the same year round. Because if you have ever had spring water from the spring it does taste different from time to time. Also the tap water that is Dasani is better than home RO water, it is made using an ro unit that has a finner membrane and that has higher pressure, equalling higher quality. I think it tastes like crap because of the bottles. I always thought it tasted a little plasticy!! But what do I care, I just use the old Brita carbon filter. Good enough for me.
