eating out
a general guideline.

The quote of the day:
The rush to make sure that the American (and world) public have immediate and total access to every word of Starr's report on the Net -- before Clinton himself has a chance to respond and before lawmakers have an opportunity to digest the charges -- is a gross act of partisan politics, sanctimoniously swaddled in freedom-of-information rhetoric.

Well, I'm off to the doctor this week, and so is Darin. Turns out we are not complaining about the same symptoms at all--I feel as though someone's blowing up a balloon in the middle of my throat, and Darin's throat is horribly sore, among other things--so one diagnosis will not fit all, which is what I was hoping for.

Damn.

We had dinner with Darin's mom and three of their millions of cousins (Bobbie, Clancy, and Sally) at Il Tiramisu tonight. Darin and I haven't been there in while, but it's still as wonderful as ever. They were so busy they only accepted parties with reservations, which I've never seen before (but we usually don't go on weekends).

This is how I handle eating a high calorie restaurant meal like this: I eat half of everything. Which is probably still 3 times too many calories, but I enjoyed everything without getting a stomachache. I literally draw a line down the middle of my plate--in this case, risotto del pescatore--and eat half of it. The risotto was a little too cheesy and salty to eat more than half anyhow, although the calamari in the risotto was very nicely cooked: perfectly chewy.

As I pushed away my half-eaten glass of chocolate gelato, I said to Darin, "Hell just froze over." But I don't think I couldn't have eaten more than that, honestly.

Feeling slightly nauseous and achey made eating less that much easier, actually.
