the spread of ookiness
darin, me, my 'puter...what's next?
Running news:
2 miles.
Nothing yesterday.

Well, now that my computer's working just fine and everything's great...I feel like crap. I don't know if it's psychosomatic (like, I haven't gotten anything done recently, and rather than get depressed my body's decided to get sick instead) or whether I've got whatever Darin was coming down with, but I have definitely felt perkier in my time.

I woke up at 6am--not because the sunrise woke me up, but because Darin was talking in his sleep. The last word was "list." I got up and banged around the room a bit, because I'd forgotten to put out my running clothes the night before, and the cloud cover made the room completely dark.

I got out and started running, planning on doing 7 or 8 miles. It wasn't particularly hot, but it was very humid, and the clouds were dark. I had my sunglasses on my head, but I had a suspicion I wasn't going to need them any time soon.

I noticed I was going really slowly. I mark certain points to see if I'm within an acceptable range for speed, and this morning I hit one of my points a minute late, which is way off. I didn't feel good at all--I found breathing to be very difficult and my body felt like lead (despite having my pre-run banana).

All of this became moot when it started raining.

At first there was just a drizzle, but then it started raining a little harder. And it kept coming. And I said, You know, it isn't cold, but I'm not really in the mood to plow through the rain when I'm already feeling ooky.

So I cut my run short, went home, wiped the rain off, and went back to bed, where I slept for an additional two and a half hours.

Sleeping in usually ruins a day for me. If I've slept a lot--and I went to bed at 11 last night, so I slept a lot--I usually remain sleepy. My get up and go doesn't want to wake up either.

I decided that perhaps I should eat something. So I got the Big Bowl of Oatmeal--I make a huge batch of steel-cut oatmeal at the beginning of the week and then reheat a little bit every day--and prepared a small bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Much smaller than usual. It still took me forever to eat it.

Maybe I should just go back to bed.
