Darin and I went to Mezzomondo, a very good Italian restaurant in Studio City, for dinner last night. Even better than the food is that the place is always crawling with actors. The first time we went there, Kirk Cameron (it was a slow night). Last night: Michael Richards (Kramer from Seinfeld).

He was by himself and reading a book. He took his food out to the patio on the sidewalk and ate there. It was great watching the pedestrians walk by: they'd pass him, and they'd be at the store next door before they turned around and stared, having taken 20 steps to figure out who it was.

Richards got up after finishing and walked away. I found myself wondering if he'd paid. Then I realized, He's Kramer on Seinfeld...he doesn't have to.

Why is it that it's only when you make all this money that you no longer have to pay for anything?

After dinner we went to see The Devil's Advocate, and we both give it thumbs up. It's really a pretty good little movie. We were both wildly entertained, not only by Keanu (who is looking mighty fine, let me tell you), but by Al Pacino, who does, yes, dump ketchup and Tabasco all over the scenery and pig out.

One problem is with the woman that Keanu finds himself inexplicably attracted to a woman who is not nearly as attractive or charismatic as he is. You also compare to this woman to his wife and you think, Que? They needed someone as attractive as Keanu in order to make this subplot believable. She just looked bony.

The logline for this film is not "The Firm meets Rosemary's Baby." It's more "The Firm meets The Omen," but that doesn't sound as sexy.

One thing The Devil's Advocate is excellent at is the problem that I described the other day with James's thesis. Not only does the tension escalate and problems mount in Act II, but they build towards a revelation that leads the viewer to think, "Oh man, if Keanu thought he had problems before..."

And the revelation happens to be exactly what I said to James on Thursday. In fact, it's so good I'm adding this phrase to the spoilers page.

The Spoilers page now has ANSWERS, by the way.
