I flew up north again to see Darin today --
(I've found the perfect way for me to get to sleep by the way: take the 4pm flight from Burbank to San Jose. I'm out like a light for an hour. I think I was asleep before takeoff. Do the stewardi take drink orders before or after the plane's in the air on Southwest? Because I ordered apple juice but I don't remember takeoff.)
-- and got together with the Magic Street Irregulars to watch a particularly weak episode of Babylon 5. Basically, this was the "Jerry Doyle does his Bruce Willis impression 'cause there's nothing else going on" episode.
What was very funny was when Darin and I showed up at the house, I was carrying the Wiseguy tapes, to give to Greg to make a new batch.
Laura and Rob espied the tapes, said, "Are those the Wiseguy tapes?" --
(Do you know how weird it is for all of my friends to know everything little thing that's going on with me? That's it, new rule: we ALL have to keep online journals or no one does.)
-- absconded with the tapes, and got out new, fresh tapes for Greg to use to tape the show. Laura and Rob were big fans of Wiseguy and want to see it again.
I told Greg he's like our dope supplier. He immediately raised the price per kilo and asked Darin to frisk me to see if I was wearing a wire.
Michael gave me a belated birthday present: a book entitled All I want is a good night's sleep and I thought once again, I have got to stop detailing my life so well in my journal. I yawned my thanks and started reading through it. The author was interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air a while back.
I complimented another GSPer today on his writing -- completely spontaneously, with no hidden motives, hidden cameras, or celebrity endorsements. Erik is in my writing group (which is why I know his writing) and his stuff is so funny. He says he feels like he's writing Seinfeld right now but he plans on writing features. I admire his writing because he sets up comic situations really well, and it's not just "I misheard what you said in the elevator." If he puts the whole character/plot/tone shtick together, he's going to be rich.
