The Paperwork

True Crime

We can't simply rule out the loon theory.

I don't know why I'm so fascinated by true crime and serial killers so much. I know I'm not alone -- after all, there's a section in each and every bookstore titled "True Crime" these days, and I have not one but two shelves devoted to these books. Maybe it's only because I'm such a law-abiding citizen.

I'm currently reading Before He Wakes. Darin asked what it's about. I said it's about a woman who murders both of her husbands. He didn't ask any more questions after that, strangely enough.

Friday night Darin and I went out to dinner with CJ, Lance, Rob, and Laura. We went to Saratoga for a change of pace and dined at La Fondue. La Fondue has a four course dinner -- the cheese fondue, the salad, the so-called main course, and the true main course, also known as the "chocolate fondue." Laura and I, being no dummies, managed to sit in the center so that we had the easiest access to both fondue pots. This location became key when it was time for dessert. We ate ourselves silly. Dinner at La Fondue is tasty and filling and it's very good as a social occasion -- and had a couple of glasses of wine to boot.

Afterwards, we went home and watched the director's cut of the Seven Samurai. No, just kidding. We went home and watched SF Vortex, a show on the Sci-Fi channel devoted to science fiction shows, because it had some of the actors from Babylon 5 on it. Then we watched Millenium and Homicide. The amazing thing about these latter two shows is that we had taped them at the extended speed -- and they looked fantastic. The picture from the satellite is so wonderful that using the EP speed is perfect.

I dig this satellite thing.

On Saturday Darin and I did nothing, then we did some more nothing, then to cap it all off we did some more nothing. I outlined a story for writing class (for those of you out there who wonder if I ever do write, I do, though not as much as I believe I need to).

Today we're adjusting the antenna (though how we'll do that I have no idea, because it's up on the roof and we're down here, in the house) and watching Babylon 5 again.

Tomorrow I go back to Los Angeles. I hate leaving Darin. It's only a few more weeks until Thanksgiving and then a few more until winter break, but that's a hell of a long time.
