Capsule review, although everyone who's likely to see The Man In The Iron Mask has already done so: flawed, flawed, flawed, somewhat silly, sometimes boring. Mainly because there's no protagonist--is it D'Artagnan? It sure isn't Leo vs. Leo in the non-acting matchup of the century.

I didn't hate this movie, but right now I'm even having trouble remembering it. There was just very little energy to this movie, despite Jeremy Irons's (still a babe) and John Malkovich's best efforts. And Gerard Depardieu--please, let's have no more of this man in our American movies; he can go back to being in every French movie, the way that he likes (and that French law stipulates).

Leo Di Caprio, though...now there's a mystery. He looks like a girl through most of this movie, and all I could think was, the reason that he's such a big heartthrob is that he's safe. Teenage girls are not going to be menaced by a guy who clearly doesn't even have to shave.
