Why is it when my mother-in-law is here and I ostensibly have another pair of arms to hold Sophia, I have less time than ever? Today we went to Nordstrom in Glendale to find me some fancy clothes for a wedding I have to go to next month. Well, fancy clothes that I easily adjust to nurse Sophia. Then we had to tear across town to visit a doctor at the Kerlan-Jobe clinic near LAX -- -- <rant>You know, I just gotta say, I really haven't for the most part had that much trouble with LA traffic. Mostly this is because I don't commute, but even when I went to USC every day I didn't have too much trouble. Today, in the middle of the day, the 405 was bumper-to-bumper, which made me 20 minutes late for my appointment because I'd booked some slop into the time I thought it would take but not that much time. I was extremely annoyed at the traffic. I said, I don't like this. I especially don't like it with a 4-month-old in the back seat, even though Sophia was sacked out the whole way. </rant> -- -- to see what was what with my hands. After a very long appointment that involved sitting around and getting X-rays and getting poked and prodded, the verdict came back: tendonitis, not carpal tunnel. After getting the okay from the pediatrician (in regards to breastfeeding), I got a cortisone shot. Whoo hoo. We drove back home and watched game shows. Darin flew up to the Bay Area today for work. He reports it was very, very hot. He came back to balmy, acceptable LA this evening. He is a tired Pookie Daddy.

The answer to Monday's question: Hafez el-Assad ruled Syria for 30 years. Which means he only came to power in 1970. I feel so old. His successor is his son Bashar el-Assad, and the odds in Vegas are not in the younger el-Assad's favor. Daddy is a tough act to follow. |
