See all of California in one week. Well, the major metropolitan bits, at any rate.

It's been another busy week.

Tuesday

Wow. I'm drawing a total blank as to what I did all day. Probably not very much.

Had dinner at Kabul with Mitch, Greg, Gordon, and Lance. I ate a lot, but had enough leftovers to leave them in Mitch's fridge. Must remind Mitch they're there.

Wednesday

Diane visits the Peninsula day.

I knew I was getting my hair cut, so first thing in the morning I went "running." Sigh. I went down the railroad tracks that I visited oh so often at one point in my life, and I did 2 miles. I had to alternate between jogging and walking too. I became morose on the topic of my lost youth and spryness.

I took myself to lunch at Cho's Dim Sum in Palo Alto, then I went to Kepler's and found some books (what were the odds?), then I visited the World's Greatest Hairdresser and had my hair done. The man is a miracle worker. I want to be ridiculously wealthy so I can fly him down to LA to do my hair for me.

As I was driving Mitch's car, I had to go pick him up at work. We went to Safeway to do some food shopping and then to Target to do some root beer shopping.

Once home we finally coordinated with Darin. The three of us went to dinner at Kikusushi with Greg and Michael S.

Thursday

I got up at 6:45am to meet Judy at Hobee's for breakfast. We love to gab together -- it's not unlike Chip N Dale, chattering away -- and morning was the only time she had available, so we made it very early morning.

She then drove me over to General Magic so I could pick up the rental car from Darin.

I drove up to the City to have lunch with my parents and my sister at a cute little restaurant in the greater City Hall area: Caffe Della Stella. It's pretty good, but service was slow.

After visiting at my parents' house for a while, I drove back down the Peninsula.

Completely exhausted, I fell asleep for an hour.

But there is no rest for the wicked, or even for me: Rob and I had made plans to run together some while I was here. Evidently I inspired him to begin running, and he, damn him, has kept at it. So he stopped by Mitch's place at 5:45 and we jogged beside the railroad tracks, this time for my familiar 3 miles. Rob hadn't even known there was this long, mostly uninterrupted path down by the railroad tracks, and he said he would probably make use of it in the future.

After he left, I showered and dressed to get ready to...go over to Rob's house.

Rob organized a big game of Settlers of Catan for a get-together, see-Darin-and-Diane kind of event. It was great seeing Sho again -- I couldn't get over his mod 70's kind of hairstyle, complete with sideburns.

I didn't play much and Greg didn't play at all, so for a while we talked about his recent adventures in legal system, which hopefully he has updated on his page. The most impressive thing I found out in relation to the defense attorneys defending the guys who trying to kill him was: one is as dumb as a box of rocks, and another is as dumb as a box of hammers, and surprisingly enough, rocks are slightly smarter than hammers.

Friday

Rob and I had so much fun Thursday evening, we decided to go again, this time Friday morning.

Which is not quite enough time for the muscles to recover, probably.

Anyhow, we did 3 miles by the tracks again, and we made a pact to do the Bay-to-Breakers together next year. Whee ha! Something to shoot for. I enjoy external motivators.

I made lunch and packed our bags and waited for Darin to come home from the office. We went to airport, got on a plane and came home.

It was too short being back in NoCal. Waaaah.

Off to tonight's party: Darin's cousin is throwing a wedding reception-cum-pool-party for her sister, who just got married.

The
             Paperwork continues...
