I spent this weekend doing...what? I don't much remember. I played a lot of Clan Lord. Fernando came over on Saturday and the three of us went out to breakfast. I read my compatriots' writing for writing group. I went to my main used bookstore with a huge box of books to trade in; I took the trade in value rather than the monetary value because
The whole Julian Kestrel thing continued to upset me this weekend--no, I'm serious, I really was; I'm beginning to be a little nervous about this depth of emotion--so I went back and read passages from the books again this weekend. I moped a bit. Then Lucy said, "You could always try a little Georgette Heyer." "Come here, little girl, the first one's free..." Georgette Heyer wrote 37 novels. (Most of them romances set in the Regency period.) I've found one at Amazon and several at Amazon UK, but I have to hunt down at least 20 of them. So I can tell visits to several used bookstores are in order. That is one thing I've found in this area: used bookstores. I've found very few good new bookstores--Barnes and Noble and Borders are about it, terrifyingly enough--but used bookstores abound. |
