I've never watched Warner Brothers' Histeria! before, even though it comes on right after Animaniac and Pinky and the Brain. I watched it today and once again I'm amazed: Animaniacs gets away with stuff I didn't think you could put on TV for kids, and Histeria is an animated series explaining various periods of history. Today was "The Renaissance." It was very funny. I especially enjoyed Don Novello/Fr. Guido Sarducci as "Renaissance Man," which was Leonardo da Vinci as a superhero.
Warner Brothers is putting some subversive stuff on TV. If only they did that in their movies for adults.
Mary called me this morning and said Mike had stayed at her house last night--they were headed out to breakfast, did I want to join them? Mais oui. Turns out Mary, who was home alone for the day and night while her hubby was off on a business trip, had to stay home because the LAPD were canvassing the area for armed robbers. Mike called, asked her how she was doing, and, when she told him, he said, "I'm coming over right now." And he stayed with her. They told me how the Disney Program is going--for both of them, wonderfully. And what they did for their vacations. And what I did on mine. And we ate French toast. It was pretty cool.
Darin called me at 2:30 to say he was coming home from lunch. I called him back to ask if he'd pick me up a pack of sushi at the market on the way home. "Uhhh...sure," he said. "I hear a funny noise coming from the car. Let me call you back." He called back. "It was a blowout. And I forgot to get the spare tire fixed, so I have to get towed. I'll let you know what happens." He didn't get home until 6:30. He was not a happy camper. I spent the afternoon comfortably ensconced on the guest bed, watching TV and writing. I wrote 15 pages. I feel pretty darn proud of myself. |
