software for sale
will trade for exceptionally tasty snack cakes.

So, my forums have moved again. Write this down:

http://www.spies.com/cgi-bin/ubb/Ultimate.cgi

Here was the choice:
  1. have my own fiefdom, or
  2. have my forums show up with everybody else's forums on spies.

(There was no way to link from spies's BB to mine.)

So the question became: do I play in my own swimming pool or do I go join in with everyone else?

Bummer: I had been dividing topics up in different forums, and under Spiestap I only get one forum. I suppose I could beg to have multiple forums, but then everyone would want ten forums and where would we be? (Well, with a heck of a lot of forums, I tell you that.) So you just have to use the search command, I guess.

The only problem right now is that topics are not refreshing right away and new threads aren't appearing. Ceej and I futzed with this a bit last night, I sent mail to UBB-user and Perl-knower Rob, I have posted on UBB's bulletin boards. This is apparently a variation on problems UBB has evidently seen before. I can't wait to hear their explanation. (I've already nipped the "It's your cache" and "Tell your browser to check the server each time" complaints in the bud -- s'not that.)

(What's annoying is that this did not, as far as I know, happen on my nka-only forums at all. I don't know whether this is a result of merging me in with everyone else or UBB just deciding to go a little nuts.)

Anyhow, go ahead and post -- what you say may not show up immediately, but it will show up. Honest.

Yes, I was a little annoyed that my new software became redundant, especially as UBB evidently takes a rather hardline toward giving refunds (i.e., they don't).

Anybody want to buy some brand-new UBB software?

I've discovered that I am having third-trimester cravings. First trimester: meat, the rawer the better. Third trimester: chocolate and sugar. Convenient, you say, given that I already like chocolate and sugar?

Not really, when you realize what depths I am drawn to.

Yesterday I bought, and consumed, a package of Hostess Cupcakes.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Hostess "Snack Cake" Family, let me describe a few things about them to you.

  1. They are made from non-water-soluble ingredients, possibly mined from asteroids that arrived from Mars many millenia ago.
  2. As has been made famous through the case of the Hostess Twinkie, these snack cakes do not have a shelf life, they have a half life, or the date upon which half of the contents of the snack cake package are no longer edible, but you have no idea which one. There are no tests to distinguish the edible one from the inedible one.

What I should have gotten were Pinwheels, those cookies topped with marshmallow and covered with chocolate. Not much better than Hostess snack cakes...but there are more of them to a package.

Help Diane find tastier snacks.

The answer to Friday's question: You know, I am so uninterested in the Super Bowl I couldn't even be bothered to look up which team was in the NFC and which team was in the AFC.

Andre Agassi won the Australian Open though. That's some nice sporting news.
