One thing I guess I didn't make clear with yesterday's entry is that I wasn't bothered at all by those messages sent by two critics. Why? Well, primarily because the messages are badly written ad hominem attacks that had not very much to do with what I wrote or thought and why that bothered them. No, those particular critics are cowards who hide behind forged mail IDs and fake names. I just wanted to rant about criticism.
Today I woke up and puttered around a bit before finally setting foot out the door. I did something I haven't done for quite a while: I went to a cafe and worked there. The cafe was Starbucks, so I'm not sure that counts, but I actually did a bit of work. The task at hand was to read the first couple of chapters of Directing Actors, by Judith Weston, summarize the chapters, and then say what we got out of them. It's a book report for Directing class, natch.
Came back, played some NetHack. Is it just me, or is playing under a full moon not quite as lucky as the game would have you believe? After I died very, very quickly a few times, I gave it up.
Now I'm finishing up the book report on the 'puter and watching a special on A&E about the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. They did a neat report last week on how the ancient Egyptians might have erected the Great Obelisk, complete with a couple of modern engineers attempting to recreate ancient methods. You can learn wacky things on cable TV.
Let's see...I also have to pound out a proposal for the directing project I want to do this semester, which is a project I'll not only direct but write as well (having already directed something written by someone else this semester...Bard and I will be the only two students who get to direct two projects). I want to do a short, not very talky vampire story, about 5 minutes long. I'm mostly interested in getting an interesting image on tape for once. (Despite reading a book entitled Directing Actors.)
Anybody know of
- good books on interior decorating or
- shops in the LA area for modern furniture?
