Darin and I are in San Antonio, Texas for WorldCon, the world science fiction convention. Mostly to see JMS and hear Babylon 5 things. I wasn't going to come, since school was starting this week, but since it was only the first weekend of school...I came.
I forgot to check weather reports. It's hot down here. Hot and incredibly muggy. How did people live before the advent of short clothes and air conditioning? It must have been atrocious.
After wandering around the Convention some, Darin and I came back to the hotel to wait for Lance and CJ, who had checked in and probably gone wandering themselves. We finally met up and went out for a walk along the Riverwalk, which is more like a Canalwalk: a thin body of water that wends around downtown and is flanked by walking paths and all manner of eating establishments.
We had dinner at some chi-chi place that Lance took a liking to. It was okay; getting the chili (which consisted primarily of huge chunks of stew meat) was a bad idea on my part, though Darin said it was very good Texas chili.
We walked some more, then returned to the hotel and sat down by the pool and talked until 11pm. Ceej and I made plans to go for a walk in the morning (and because I'm writing this on Saturday, I can tell you that because I slept in, we didn't make it).
Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics
Jogging is right out here. I'm not even considering it. I don't know how athletes can function in this weather.
I've been mulling over story ideas in my head for my thesis script. They may not make any sense right now, but I'm going to start writing them down and see how/if they fit together.
