Where did my Danger Girl go?
Something has happened to Sophia of late, and it’s driving me near crazy. She needs to be with me. Really near me. She will often stand right next to me, and more than once I’ve knocked her over, because I didn’t know she was there. We have a new rule: she must stand at least 3 feet away from me. Otherwise, one of us is going to break something.
She won’t go up to her room by herself. If I’m in one room and she’s in another and she can see me through the doorway, that’s too far away and she has to be near me. We’ve started having difficult discussions at night as to why she has to stay in her room and not in ours. Today in the kitchen she was crying to me about the footsteps. “What footsteps?” I asked. “I’m right here, and I did not hear any footsteps.”
Darin thinks her imagination is developing and she’s started to imagine things that aren’t there. Tamar has suggested it’s the transition from preschool to Kindergarten that’s doing it. Sophia just had preschool graduation, complete with cap and gown, so she knows Kindergarten is coming soon.
I’m hoping it’s a short-lived phase. Having Sophia close is great. Having Sophia surgically attached to my side is not going to work out well.
